We Are Artists!
Maple have been learning about the artist Este Macleod and have been inspired by her funky nature patterns.
For the first couple of weeks we looked at her bright floral patterned work which tended to include birds. Then we focussed on her darker pieces, which we all agreed made us feel like winter with the pictures of cosy looking houses.
Yesterday we had a go at designing some 3D pictures, using different fabrics and choices of colour. The children worked really hard and produced amazing pieces of work.
I think Este Macleod would be very impressed!
Class Treat Wednesday 22nd May
Dear Parents,
Next Wednesday we will be enjoying our class treat as a
reward for earning our 50 cubes. We have chosen an afternoon on the field
playing games.
Please could your child bring in:
- Any garden games your child would like to play with
- Children may bring water pistols therefore please ensure they are wearing clothing that you are happy for them to get wet (and possibly muddy) in!
- A change of summer clothing (shorts, hats, sunglasses etc.)
Your child will also be given a rocket ice lolly with your permission. Please return the slip as soon as possible which will be coming home with your child today.
World Book Day!
What’s the Time Mr Wolf?!

This week we have telling the time accurately and to the nearest five. We have looked at the difference between analogue and digital; we even got to read some roman numerals!
We found it very beneficial to keep reading the time throughout the day. If you can, have a go at different times of the day of asking what the time is.
Happy Half Term!

It has been a FANTASTIC half term, thank you very much for all your hard work and effort these past few weeks. It has been so much fun getting to know you guys and I hope you’ve enjoyed yourselves as much as I have 🙂
I have set a fun homework to complete throughout next week as the most important thing is for you to enjoy your week off!
Look forward to seeing you back on the 25th and hearing what you have been up to.

Science Day!
Today Maple class participated in multiple Science experiments to do with our topic “Light and Dark”.
We made a kaleidoscope and a spectroscope using loo rolls and CDs. We made shadow puppets and put on our own shows using torches, and made rainbow paper using water and clear nail varnish.
We were very lucky to have a mad scientist join us and help us complete our experiments!
Thank you to those who brought in extra supplies and thank you for being so super this morning 🙂
Stone Age Workshop
A MASSIVE thank you to Mrs England for coming in to talk to us about the Stone Age.
We were so lucky to be able to look at replicas of artifacts from the Stone Age and even got to dress up in Stone Age clothes!
Mrs England got two of us to hold a piece of rope, representing the timeline of the world since the Stone Age. We were AMAZED that in relation to the Stone Age, the Romans were closer to Modern Day Britain!
We also made up our own game at the end which was so much fun to play and we cannot wait to play it again soon 🙂
Thank you once again Mrs England for giving up your time, we really enjoyed it!!
Snow Good!
Thank you for sending your pictures of your snowman making skills!
Anyone else got a pic of them enjoying the snow? 🙂

Order Order!

This week Maple Class have been practising their skills at debating. Everyone was great at making a list of the “Tricks of the Trade for Debating” saying things such as “Listening carefully to others,” and “Not being too argumentative,”
We chose a side, whether we were for or against the question, and we wrote down the pros and cons for both arguments. We were also lucky to be joined by Judge Edgar who made sure things remained under control.
